Nitrogen metabolism in gastrointestinal tissue of the pig.

چکیده
The protein content of the gastrointestinal tract is not more than 7 % of whole-body protein, while the amount of protein synthesized daily exceeds 20% of whole-body protein synthesis. Considering this active protein metabolism in the gastrointestinal tract as well as the role of the gastrointestinal tract in digestion and absorption, we have investigated fluxes of N and amino acids (AA) in relation to diet composition. This work was carried out within the framework of looking at possibilities of further increasing the efficiency of N utilization in growing pigs, which has both economic and environmental implications. The present article reviews N metabolism in the gastrointestinal tract of the pig and fluxes of N and AA after digestion and absorption by the gastrointestinal tract in relation to diet composition. AA and peptide transport by the intestine has been reviewed recently (Daniel et al. 1994; Munck & Munck, 1994; Mailliard et al. 1995) and is not considered here.

A Survey on the Gastrointestinal Parasites of Rabbit and Guinea Pig in a Laboratory Animal House
There is documented evidence that infection in laboratory animals can often influence the outcome of experiments. All infections, apparent or inapparent, are likely to increase biological variability. As a research project concerning the diversity and distribution of parasites of rabbit and guinea pig in a conventional laboratory animal house, about 87 rabbits (from 700 ) and 105 guinea pigs (f...

The aqueous-ethanolic extract of the Hibiscus rosasinensis aerial parts (Hr.Cr) was studied for the possible presence of spasmogenic and spasmolytic constituents to rationalize some of its traditional uses in gastrointestinal disorders. Segments of isolated rabbit jejunum and guinea-pig ileum, 2-3 cm long were mounted seprately in Tyrode’s solution and aerated with 95% oxygen in carbon dioxide....
متن کاملStudying the Mechanical Behavior of Tissue in the Generation of Pressure Sores using Simulation and a Guinea Pig Experimental Model
Introduction: Pressure sores refer to lesions that are produced while a constant pressure causes necrotic tissue to grow. The need for a better comprehension of the process has led researchers to artificial generation of pressure sores. Modeling the mechanical behavior of tissue will provide a better understanding of this process as well as a more suitable selection ...

متن کاملExtracellular Vesicles Derived from Gastrointestinal Microbiota: A New Approach to Clinical Studies
Extracellular vesicles, naturally released from all cell types including bacteria, are of great importance in medical microbiology due to transporting a variety of biomaterials, enzymes, and virulence factors, regulating immunity, and having roles in colonization and initiation of signaling pathways. These vesicles are also secreted from microbiota in the gastrointestinal tract and affect the h...
